#MCS EP08: REMOTE GRADING IN DAVINCI RESOLVE

Resolve 12 as a nice feature because that enables a colorist to remotely control a color grading session from a local workstation. This is possible across a a network or between two stations thousands of kilometres away. All you need is two licenses of DaVinci Resolve Studio, an internet connection and two copies of your medias.

In the 8th episode on My Canadian Studio, Mathieu Marano is taking you through the steps of configuring both stations to enable the remote grading.

#MCS EP07: Autodesk Flame & Family available on Mac

Autodesk announced that the next version on its powerful compositing and finishing solution, Flame, would soon be available on Linux an Mac OS. They also announced that it would then be available through a new subscription plan at a lower price along Flame Assist and Flare. Here is what you need to know to install Flame on your Mac.

Mathieu Marano took some time to discuss With Frederic Warren, UX Designer at Autodesk, about the new offer, the future of the Flame family of software and how Smoke is still part of the big picture.

#MCS EP06: QNAP affordable shared storage for FCPX, Premiere and Resolve

QNAP announced a new NAS that has two Thunderbolt 2 ports in addition to the 10GigE and Ethernet ports we are used to. This makes it a very fast and cost effective solution for anybody who need to share media and projects between editing stations. The 8-bay RAID 5 is fast enough to playback 4K footage to many MAC and PC. it can also be used has an FTP server, a media player and a compression server.

In the 6th episode of My Canadian Studio, Mathieu Marano shows how to use the TVS-871T in a post-production environment.

#MCS EP05: REMOTE RENDERING IN RESOLVE 12

DaVinci Resolve 12 has a new feature that enables a colorist to use a secondary Resolve station to render timelines while he continues on gradin another project. If you have two Resolve Studio stations and a shared storage you can use this function and save a lot of time.

In the the 5th episode of My Canadian Studio, Mathieu Marano shows you had to configure two Resolve 12 stations to use remote rendering.

In Resolve 12, Blackmagic Design has gone pretty far to integrate a real interactive and collaborative workflow. It is now possible to share a timeline between an editor and a coloriste so that they can work together in two separate rooms to finish and grade a show quickly than ever.

#MCS: AE PIXEL SORTER

Pixel sorting is a way of displaying pixels in rows and columns depending on their luminance value. Our Guest, Gabriel Grenier wrote a plugin called PIXEL SORTER to do pixel sorting in After Effects. Mathieu Marano goes through the different way of using this plugin with him in this 4th episode of My Canadian Studio.

#MCS: Stabilized rig by SHAPE

Shape WLB is a Canadian company that build amazingly strong and useable camera rigs. Their latest product is a mix between a classic camera support and a stabilized brushless gimbal. The ISEE+ RIG is a 2-axis stabilized rig aimed at extreme sports events. It can mount a mirrorless camera like a GH4 or an A7s and give you smooth shots for when you have to run after that snowboarder.



Eric St-Martin welcomed Nico Marchand, product consultants and Laurence Villeneuve, Shape development team to talk about the operation and fabrication of that piece of hardware.
